At the heart of WellBe’s mission is a dedication to creating meaningful change. “We believe in doing more than just delivering training. We believe in transforming our profits into social action.” says Joanna Buckland at WellBe. “Our Volunteer Training Programme ensures that volunteers who are often the backbone of community support have access to high-quality mental health training at no cost.”
The initiative was inspired by conversations with social prescribers in the wake of COVID-19. A key insight emerged: while there is no shortage of willing volunteers, many feel unequipped to handle mental health challenges effectively. This sparked the creation of WellBe’s Volunteer Training Programme, which reserves two fully-funded places for community volunteers on every Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course.

WellBe are committed to supporting volunteers but they can’t do it alone which is why their innovative model is so important. It allows them to bridges the gap between corporate clients and community needs with each corporate booking funding training opportunities for volunteers, allowing WellBe to deliver the same expert training to both groups.
So far, WellBe have been supported by a number of incredible organisations including HR Star and Pentadel, which has seen volunteers from companies in Bristol, Somerset and Gloucestershire access the training for free. The feedback from these sessions has been overwhelmingly positive:
